“Courage does not always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying ‘I will try again tomorrow.’” — Mary Anne Radmacher

Every day, you have two choices: the easy way out, or the more challenging route – the latter one has a high probability of being rewarding. When things get tough, you should stay the course, put your head down, and keep trying. You may not see the results right away, but be patient, your efforts are not wasted. Growing up, my parents encouraged me to be courageous and challenge myself instead of taking the path of least resistance. I try to apply those values in my personal and professional life.

As someone who moved several times when growing up, the question of “where I grew up” always stumbles me. I was born and raised in India, where I spent the first eight years of my life. When my dad got a job offer, we moved near Towson, Maryland, and spent seven years there. We then moved to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where I spent the last two years of high school and graduated from Millersville University in three years with a bachelor’s degree in economics and a minor in business administration.

I was blessed with leadership opportunities at Millersville University, where I served as the chief justice and was a member of the finance committee for the Student Government Association. I was responsible for conducting financial and constitutional audits for organizations on campus, and allocating the university’s aggregate budget toward student activities/clubs. Involvement with The Marauder Fund, a student investment association that constructed and managed portfolios, sparked my interest in finance. I served as the chief financial officer, which gave me an opportunity to actively manage the portfolio, analyze financial metrics, and recommend changes, if needed, to 40 junior and senior analysts. I also had an opportunity to sit in on Millersville University’s advisory committees.

Writing and research is a core part of who I am. At Millersville University, the economics department supported my efforts wholeheartedly and helped me write a thesis, complete a research capstone class, where I wrote on the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), and publish three papers, one in each of the following fields: economics, management, and finance. The most challenging part came when I attempted to complete an economics departmental thesis (it was a year of hard work) on the gender-income gap and whether it varies across professions. I am grateful to all my professors and classmates for helping me achieve those goals.

After graduation, I went to business school at Penn State University to complete an accelerated master’s degree in corporate finance. I gained valuable knowledge through coursework involving portfolio management, investment analysis, and applied capstone projects.

Upon graduation, I started working at an asset and wealth management firm in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. I was a project manager of asset management in the investment analyst group. My core responsibilities included manager due diligence, overseeing RFP initiatives, research, reporting on market trends, and writing. All things investment and financial analysis basically!

In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis, watching sports, and cooking. I am a huge foodie, and love trying out new recipes and experimenting with flavors! (I don’t enjoy doing the dishes as much as cooking, though!) I am thrilled to be a part of the Milestone team and to get hands-on experience to become an advisor. Leveraging my education and background to support our advisors in helping clients achieve their financial goals is paramount to me. At the end of the day, it is about guiding our clients and helping them live their best lives.
